Today starts Me-Made-May!
Last year, we had Me-Made-June and that was fun and definitely expanded my self-made wardrobe. I am learning more about what styles work for me and what don't when I make them for myself.
Today's Me-Made item is my knit Sorbetto tank made last year. Colette's Sorbetto is a free pattern download here if you don't have it already! The rest of the outfit is some grey capris from REI, that ended up with an unusually high amount of kid stains today so they didn't need to be in the picture!
Now for something better to look at than my mug: For a little friend's 1st birthday, her mom wanted a little smock to eat/smash her cake in and that would look cute in pictures. We found this Happy Birthday fabric at Joann's, then I started with Modkids Penny pattern and traced the back piece in the smallest size, traced the front in 2 pieces and added some in the middle for the snap area.
I meant for the front to be the back since the neck is higher for better smashed-cake-coverage.
I also cut out all the pieces in some nice yellow PUL and fully lined it - it's not only water & icing resistant, its's reversible for future paint or crafty projects!
Love this kids smock thing! How difficult was it?
ReplyDeleteWaaay easier than I thought it was going to be! You could trace the outline of any of yours kids' shirts and make one.
